A tedious case of export documentation

salad

When you spent a day's labour meaningfully, it gives you a strange satisfaction and peace. In an organization that spans across continents, it is sometimes difficult to comprehend the complete working structure. But what makes the complex machinery of an organization work without interruption, day in and day out, are the way smallest and the highest part work in sync with each other.

It is summer and the harvest of most of the crops has already started. The shipping schedules during this time nastily increases, keeping the exports department virtually on their toes. The documentations for each shipment need to be prepared within a very strict timeframe - and there is no scope for any error.

This time we thought of featuring the day-to-day activities of our export and logistic department. We talked with Manmohan, whose interest in the export related matters brought him into this field after his graduation.

He describes his work with great humility, but you can easily see the underlying intricacies. Right from finding the best ocean freights to coordinating between sales team and customer end, to preparing the shipping documents, getting them duly attested from authorised government bodies to clearing custom related issues and preparing the appropriate certificates - every bit of work is painstaking. The next challenge is to repeat the same process, but this time following the rules of different countries. Formalities differ from one country to another.

On being asked as to what keeps him motivated at work each day - he sums his answer in two words: customer satisfaction.
